SAVE THE WORLD RIGHT NOW

Over my decades of searching for ways that our work, our careers and businesses might serve humanity better, I have discovered many inspiring people and enterprises. But, for me, nothing comes close to the world changing impact of microcredit. Dr. Yunus’ discovery that nearly all of us have a self-reliance gene is the best lever for changing the world.  His work in providing tiny loans to the poor so they can develop profitable businesses has probably done more good for more poor people than any other single economic initiative in world history. I know. That sounds extreme. But he actually won the Nobel Peace Prize because of the positive social, health, education and human rights impacts that follow economic self-reliance. His vision is nothing less than to end poverty. Period. The Grameen Foundation, which was established with Professor Yunus as founding board member to spread the impact of microfinance globally, is working to make his dream of ending poverty a reality.  The clock is ticking on the international community’s goal of cutting poverty among the world’s poorest families in half by 2015 (that’s about 700 million people). Yes in five years.  It’s possible. It’s actually happening.

So to put my commitment on the line, I decided to pledge $1 of my royalties from each book to the Grameen Foundation to help make this happen. You can help too.
